Kennedy Scholarships tenable in 2010-2011 are offered by the Trustees of the Kennedy Memorial Trust for postgraduate study or research in the USA at Harvard University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Normally six to eight Scholarships are awarded which cover tuition and health service fees, the cost of travel to and from the U.S.A., and provide an allowance of USD 22,000 for the year plus an additional travel grant. Applicants must be British citizens at the time of application, who are also ordinarily resident in the U.K., who have spent at least two of the last five years studying at a university in the United Kingdom and who will have graduated before taking up their scholarship. Candidates should submit eight typed (or legibly written in black) copies of the application form, and attach to each copy a short essay (typed) giving an account (of not more than 1,000 words) of their academic pursuits, general activities, and intellectual interests, plus reasons for wishing to study in the United States, choice of course and institution, and plans for the future. Completed applications must be lodged with the Head of the Scholarships and Student Finance Office, Old College, South Bridge by the closing date of 20th October.
