Criteria:
The scholarships shall be awarded under the following conditions: 1. The scholarship is a cash payment, not a fee waiver. 2. Successful applicants will be informed of the amount of their scholarship. 3. The scholarship will be paid directly to the applicant following enrollment in the US Studies program. 4. The maximum scholarship is likely to be 50% of tuition. Scholarships awarded to local students enrolled on a part-time basis will be disbursed based on a student's semester credit load. Therefore some scholarships will be disbursed over two semesters. 5. Applicants will be considered for all relevant scholarships. It is not necessary to submit multiple applications. 6. Applications are open to all prospective US Studies students, regardless of their citizenship. 7. The Eleanor Roosevelt Scholarship is open to all local and international students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in US Studies and the Rosa Parks, Susan B Anthony, and Rachel Carson Scholarships are open to all local and international students enrolled in the Master of US Studies at The University of Sydney. No scholarships are offered at the Graduate Diploma level or to students applying to complete US Studies units as a non-award course. 8. The scholarships will be awarded by the United States Studies Centre, on the recommendation of the Academic Program Director after consultation with the Selection Committee. 9. Applicants will be required to submit an application form outlining their personal motivation for enrolling in the US Studies program, including their learning goals, the relevance of the course for the applicant's career, plus transcripts and an example of the applicant's written work (not to exceed 20 pages). 10. Students must apply separately for admissions to the US Studies program. Details of how to apply as a local or international student are on the US Studies Centre website. Applications for admissions are sent to either to the Faculty of Arts (local students) or the International Office (international students). Scholarship applications should be sent directly to the US Studies Centre. Students are encouraged to submit their application for admissions and scholarship application at the same time. 11. Successful applicants cannot apply again for another scholarship in the same year.
