AFS Global Leaders Scholarship Program

Description: Global Leaders is AFS's main scholarship program, offering partial need and merit-based scholarships to qualified applicants who are open to considering a variety of AFS countries. Global Leaders scholarship applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage you to submit all need and/or merit-based scholarship application materials at once. Candidates are urged to apply as early in the school year as possible the earlier your application is reviewed, the larger the pool of available aid.

Criteria: In an effort to make the process fair to all, AFS considers the following when making award decisions:

* The primary responsibility for financing a student's education rests with the family.
* The family is expected to contribute a minimum of USD 900 toward the student's AFS program.
* Both parents are expected to contribute to tuition.
* In the case of divorce or separation, AFS strongly encourages both parents to file an application for financial assistance.
* AFS believes a family should invest in their child's education before elective expenses, for example, secondary home ownership, club memberships, and expensive car leases/purchases.
